Supersonicz – The Micro-Finance seeks to create a solid lending mechanism that addresses the challenges women are facing with regards to accessing finance. We commit to continue upholding a dual mission of providing affordable capital to both the rural and urban underserved individuals and associations, while at the same time operating a sustainable business enterprise.

In The Gambia, women play very crucial role in the economic development of communities as they predominate sectors like petty trading, agribusinesses such as gardening and related supply chain. As such, they facilitate job creation and boost the productive sector of the economy. However, despite this massive contribution to the country’s socio-economic development, the women folk continue to face challenges to access finance, lack of networks and low skills to manage financial resources.

The Women Micro-financing Initiative (WMI) is therefore introduced as a community-based program that offers loans, encourages savings and provides business training to rural and peri-urban women to empower them through entrepreneurship.
